The first cohort of creative leaders to join Re:Create GrowthCamp gained candid insights into turning a creative concept into a catwalk-ready brand during a session with entrepreneur and mentor James West on Tuesday, 14 July.
In the opening session of Creative United’s new 12-week business growth programme, James shared his journey as co-founder of FEVVERS – a start-up that has already attracted international media attention, appeared on the runway with Stella McCartney and sparked conversations with some of the world’s leading fashion brands.

About James West
For over a decade, James has helped creative people turn ideas into businesses as founder of West Creative and as part of Creative United’s business mentor network. He’s advised more than 500 creative business owners on everything from positioning and marketing to partnerships, growth and business development.
Since 2025, he’s put that advice to the test himself. As co-founder of FEVVERS, he’s been developing a plant-based alternative to animal feathers for the fashion industry and experiencing first-hand the challenges, risks and opportunities of building a business from scratch.

In an honest and practical talk, James shared what it takes to move from advising others to building a business of your own, reflecting on the realities of taking risks, navigating uncertainty, building momentum and having the confidence to back your own ideas.
The session formed part of the expert insights, practical learning and real-world business advice that creative entrepreneurs and leaders can expect throughout Re:Create GrowthCamp. Working with a stellar team of business mentors and together with other inspirational peers, businesses learn practical strategies for success.
The new 12-week programme has been developed by Creative United as part of our mission to support creative livelihoods across the UK. It builds on the successful Re:Create Programme, that has supported more than 200 creative businesses across London and Essex since 2021.
