Own Art supports the visual arts economy by providing galleries and other businesses with the facility to offer their customers interest free loans for the purchase of contemporary art and craft.
Own Art helps to stimulate the market for contemporary art by reducing financial barriers for buyers and sellers, making the arts more inclusive and accessible for all.
Since the launch of the scheme in 2004, approximately 64,000 customers from across the UK have used an Own Art loan to help finance the purchase of more than £56m of contemporary art and craft.
"We love the Own Art scheme, and champion it at every opportunity.” Gallerina, Darlington
304 organisations across England, Scotland and Northern Ireland are now members of the scheme including commercial and not-for-profit galleries, museums, art fairs and artist-led organisations. "We love the Own Art scheme, and champion it verbally at every opportunity. The scheme is a huge part of how we continue to do what we do, and impacts massively in terms of helping our gallery create access to what we do. This difference is felt all across the client base, by young and established artists and of course our gallery itself."
