Hexham Book Festival (established in 2006 by director Susie Troup) is an annual festival taking place in and around Hexham in Spring each year.

The organisation celebrates and invests in all forms of reading and writing bringing high calibre authors to Hexham over ten day period for talks and workshops, we also encourage new and emerging voices. One of Hexham Book Festival’s primary goals isforChildren and young people in Northumberland have improved life chances’.

Their programme of work throughout the year is supported by Northumberland County Council and aims to impact on the development and support for literature and writing activity within Northumberland.

It seeks to develop opportunities and infrastructure and provide increased opportunities for participation and for economic development for writers. This is achieved through a range of diverse partnerships with libraries, communities and arts and other organisations.

Their combined programme of activity encompasses an enhanced events programme for the Hexham Book Festival that includes artists’ commissions and literary tours of rural venues. In 2020 and 2021 HBF will be hosting a young people’s Festival designed by and for young people of all ages in a Spiegeltent on the Sele Park opposite the Queen’s Hall.

Hexham Book Festival joins the Prosper North community as part of Edition 2.
