Take it away: bringing music making to the masses

Following the renewal of our funding agreement with Arts Council England in October 2023, we are excited to unveil the refreshed brand identity and key messages for our flagship programme, Take it away.

At Creative United, we believe in inspiring and empowering people to make music. We do this by enabling them to own their own instrument – or pay for tuition, equipment and software – with access to interest free finance.

Owning it: whatever it is that people need to start making music, or take their music making to the next level, Take it away can make all the difference.

Delivered through a network of high street shops across England and Northern Ireland, Take it away gives UK customers the opportunity to spread the cost of purchasing a musical instrument of any kind, as well as associated equipment and accessories they may need, with the benefit of an interest free loan.

Funded by Arts Council England and the Arts Council of Northern Ireland, the scheme is delivered by Creative United in partnership with Omni Capital Retail Finance through a network of 111 independent musical instrument shops selling everything from classical orchestral instruments to digital keyboards, mixing decks and music production software.

Take it away was originally launched as a national initiative in 2007. To date, the scheme has supported more than 96,000 customers to purchase more than £71.5m worth of musical instruments.

Our focus is on inclusivity. Our spirit is possibility. Our promise is opportunity.

The refreshed brand identity and key messages have been developed for Creative United by Manchester based design agency, Music.

With our new branding, the support of Arts Council England, Arts Council Northern Ireland and the dedication of fantastic partner organisations and retailers across the music sector we look forward to re-energising Take it away as the go-to scheme for anyone looking to start, continue or re-discover their journey in music making.

New website in development...

We are currently working hard to develop a brand new Take it away website to accompany the re-brand. Once completed, this website will help users who face barriers to accessing music making, be they financial, physical, or otherwise, find the specific information they need.

In the meantime, click the button below to access our holding page where you can see more of our wonderful re-branding.
