We were thrilled to officially launch the Re:Create programme in Wandsworth and Richmond on Tuesday 24 June with a dynamic ‘Launch and Learn’ event at the legendary Half Moon in Putney.
The Half Moon is a venue steeped in musical history and creative energy. With such a rich cultural legacy, it provided the perfect backdrop for a morning celebrating creativity, entrepreneurship and community.
Kicking off the morning from the stage, Susan Shaw, Head of Enterprise and Business Growth at Richmond and Wandsworth Borough Councils, welcomed attendees and introduced the exciting funding opportunities available to creatives through Wandsworth’s London Borough of Culture Community Investment Fund.
Sarah Thirtle, Director of Strategic Development at Creative United, then gave an overview of the Re:Create programme, highlighting the wealth of support available, including one-to-one mentoring, networking events, and the Re:Create Business Skills course. The in-depth, on-demand course is fully funded for creatives in Wandsworth, Richmond and Westminster (normally £185 + VAT) and designed to equip artists, makers and creative entrepreneurs with the tools to thrive.
“The sessions with my mentor really helped to build my creative voice and shape what I want to do with my future, both as a freelancer and seeing my freelance work as a business.” – Jess Gell, Re:Create alumni and documentary filmmaker at The Half Moon, Putney. Click here to read Jess’ case study.
The morning continued with an energising session led by James West (Re:Create business mentor, creative industries expert and director of West Creative). James shared strategies on how to confidently ‘Perfect Your Pitch,’ giving attendees actionable advice on how to articulate their work and seize new opportunities for collaboration and growth.
The event wrapped up with lively conversations, new connections and renewed creative energy. We extend our sincere thanks to Wandsworth and Richmond Borough Councils for their continued support of the Re:Create programme, which helps creative professionals build business skills, resilience, and confidence.
