Director of Finance
Location: Hybrid – minimum two days per week in Central London
Hours: 28 hours per week (0.8 FTE)
Salary: £55k – £65k pro-rata, depending on experience

Creative United, a social enterprise that aims to support the growth and sustainability of the creative industries, is seeking an experienced and passionate Director of Finance to join its small but ambitious and innovative team.
The organisation provides a range of financial and business support services to artists, cultural organisations, and creative enterprises — focussing on enhancing the economic impact of the creative sector, fostering innovation and ensuring accessibility to the arts.
Creative United has spent over a decade championing innovation, inclusivity, and creativity across the UK’s cultural landscape. The work blends commercial entrepreneurship with social impact, supported by national funders, government grants, corporate sponsors, and commercial partnerships.

The Opportunity
The Director of Finance will provide strategic and operational leadership across all financial aspects of the business. Working closely with the Chief Executive and Senior Management Team, you will play a key role in strengthening financial systems, guiding business planning, and supporting the organisation’s continued growth and sustainability.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the company’s financial planning, forecasting, and reporting to support strategic decision-making.
- Prepare and present clear, insightful management information for the Board and SMT.
- Oversee day-to-day finance operations including cashflow, payroll, VAT, and statutory filings.
- Manage the annual audit process and ensure full compliance with regulatory and tax requirements.
- Develop robust systems and processes for accurate and accessible financial reporting.
- Support the design and financial modelling of new business initiatives.
- Lead and develop a small finance team (Bookkeeper 0.6 FTE).
- Act as Data Protection Officer, ensuring compliance with GDPR and related policies.
About You
We’re looking for an experienced and strategically minded finance professional to lead Creative United’s financial management and support our organisational growth.
Essential:
- ACA/ACCA/CIMA qualified (or part-qualified with strong relevant experience).
- Significant senior finance experience in a small business or not-for-profit setting.
- Strong skills in financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, cashflow and treasury.
- Confident user of Xero and Microsoft Office, with strong analytical ability and attention to detail.
- Experience presenting to boards and managing staff.
- Ability to work at least two days per week from our central London office.
Desirable:
- Experience in the arts, cultural or creative sectors.
- Understanding of CRM systems and financial modelling for new services.
